Aircel Karnataka trade partners join hands to 'Save Our Tigers'

Bangalore, November 11, 2014: Building on its commitment towards the cause of tiger conservation in India, Aircel organized a three day field visit for its trade partners in Karnataka to Bandipur National Park and Tiger reserve. With an aim to raise awareness amongst the trade community on the importance and significance of tiger conservation, trade partners from across Karnataka circle were taken to Bandipur Tiger Reserve to be a part of nature, to understand the intricacies and the efforts that go into Tiger conservation and to also witness wild animals in their natural habitat.

The three day field visit included numerous safaris into the tiger reserve, showing of a wildlife movie - "Wild Dogs Diaries", a fun-filled quiz competition on tigers with questions ranging from 'How much does a tiger weigh', 'Do tigers like to go in water' to 'What is Aircel's tiger campaign known as', and finally a wildlife mobile photography competition for the trade partners.

The trade partners also got the unique opportunity to interact with an official from the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) and through them got to learn about the conservation efforts in Bandipur and the role the Tiger plays in ensuring a healthy ecosystem and why it was important to save this magnificent beast.

Aircel has been championing the cause of 'Save Our Tigers' for over five years now and through such educative trips, the company aims to align all its associates to this noble cause. "Tigers are one of the most endangered species and creating awareness about tiger conservation in the country is one of the integral strides of Aircel's "Save Our Tigers" campaign. The cause of 'Save Our Tigers' is one that is deeply embedded in our ethos and what better platform to align our trade partners towards this cause than by having them move out of the usual boardroom surrounding to go visit the forests and firsthand experience the call of the wild. We value the relationship we share with our trade partners and having them rally along with us to champion this cause is something we will always cherish", said a spokesperson from Aircel.

Madhu SM, a trade partner from SMM Enterprises, Bangalore and a winner of the wildlife mobile photography contest, said, "This trip has been fantastic. We are used to being incentivized with cash rewards, etc, but this incentive has been both unique and at the same time given us the opportunity to be a part of something so noble like the 'Save Our Tigers' initiative. This trip has been very fulfilling, something different and wonderful and I hope to be a part of many more such educative yet enjoyable trips".

Shiva Kumar, a trade partner of Aircel from SS World, Bangalore, said, "This has been one of the most exciting trips for me. Aircel 'Save Our Tigers' is a very noble cause and it is important that we all rally along with the company to ensure that we do not lose this magnificent animal from the face of this earth".

Rajath M.M, another Aircel trade partner from A2 Z Mobiles, Mysore said, "I am thankful to Aircel for taking me on this wonderful and enriching trip which in turn has also been one of the biggest learning of my life as it has helped open my eyes to important issues such as Tiger and nature conservation".

About Aircel 'Save Our Tigers' initiative
Tiger is our national animal and one that has been a part of our folklore and history for millennia. Yet this magnificent animal is on the brink of extinction. The Tiger can easily be called as the metaphor for nature, as it is a top predator and its existence ensures a healthy and a sustainable ecological balance. The year 2008 revealed the shocking number that there were just '1411' tigers left in India. 'Save Our Tigers' is a cause related campaign started by Aircel during the latter part of 2008 with an aim to create mass awareness on the plight of this magnificent beast and rally efforts to save it.
The tag line, 'Just 1411 left, Save Our Tigers', struck a chord in the hearts and minds of millions of Indians. People began to rally for the cause and began to lend their voices towards the cause. Aircel has partnered with several well-known organizations like World Wildlife Fund-India, Wildlife Conservation Trust, Wildlife Trust of India, Sanctuary Asia and NDTV, as well as several noted conservationists to create an impact on-ground where it really matters. Aircel works on various projects on conservation that encompass capacity building, conflict mitigation and awareness creation to create maximum impact.
